The job someone does by hand every week — we build the thing that does it instead.

Websites, internal web apps and automations, built to fit one business's real workflow. Not another template you have to bend around. A tool that fits the job.

FIG.01 Death by spreadsheet

Half your business runs on one spreadsheet — and the one person who truly understands it. That's not a system. It's a single point of failure with a coffee habit.

We turn the spreadsheet that's quietly holding everything together into a proper tool: one a stray click can't break, that doesn't live in someone's head, and that does the boring part by itself.

FIG.02 Sound familiar?

If a person is the integration between two systems, that's a tool waiting to be built.

A —

Someone re-keys the same data from one system into another, every week, and occasionally fat-fingers it.

B —

A person checks one document against another line by line — slow, dull, and easy to miss a change.

C —

Someone watches a website or a spreadsheet for changes by hand, so nothing important slips past.

FIG.03 What we build

Three kinds of tool. One aim: give the hours back.

Websites

Sites that pull their weight

Fast, clear, and built to do a job — take the booking, capture the enquiry, close the sale — not just sit there looking tidy.

Outcome More of the right enquiries, less admin.

Web apps

The tool your team fakes in a spreadsheet

The internal system your workflow actually needs — bookings, records, dashboards, quotes — that a shared spreadsheet has been pretending to be.

Outcome One source of truth, no version chaos.

Automations

The repetitive task, done for you

The manual routine — moving data, generating the document, sending the alert — running automatically, correctly, every single time.

Outcome Hours back each week, errors gone.

FIG.04 Built & running

Real tools, in real use — not a portfolio of mock-ups.

Live

Golfsito

A full platform for golf societies — handicaps, trips, live scoring, order-of-merit and printable challenge sheets. Runs real competitions, week in, week out.

Live

Document verifier

Cross-checks a document against its reference source and flags every difference automatically — a check that used to be done by eye, page by page.

Automation · document processing

Live

Change monitor

Watches public data sources on a schedule and raises an alert the moment something changes — so no one has to keep checking manually.

Automation · scrape · index · alert

FIG.05 Free tools

Free tools you can use right now.

We've built a suite of small, genuinely useful tools anyone can use — an income-tax & company-car calculator, a spreadsheet cleaner, a "what's that task costing you?" calculator and more. No sign-up, no catch — and a fair sample of what we build.

FIG.06 How it works

From first call to finished article — five clear steps, no surprises.

STEP 01

Intro call

A free 20-minute chat. You describe the job; we say honestly whether it's worth building.

STEP 02

Brief & outcomes

We agree exactly what it must do and what success looks like — then a fixed price.

STEP 03

Proof of concept

A working proof of concept, so you see it solving the real problem before you pay a penny.

STEP 04

Testing & demo

We build it out, test it on your real cases, and demo it back until it's exactly right.

STEP 05

Finished article

It goes live, you own it or subscribe, and we're here for whatever you need next.

FIG.07 What it costs

Two ways to pay: own it outright, or spread it over a subscription.

Buy it once and it's yours, or subscribe and we bundle the build, hosting, support and small changes into one monthly fee. Every price is fixed and agreed on the free scoping call — no hourly meter. Figures below are starting points, quoted to your job.

Basic website

A clean, few-page site to look professional and be easy to find.

Own itfrom £395
Or subscribe£20/mo
Automations & tools

A repetitive job automated, or an internal tool built to fit your workflow.

Own itfrom £600
Or subscribe£35/mo
Custom web apps

A bespoke system sized to your workflow — scoped and quoted per project.

Own or subscribeQuoted

◆ Own it outright

Pay once and it's yours — code and all. Lowest long-term cost, and you're never tied in. Optional hosting & support from £25/month, or host it yourself.

◆ Subscription

Little or nothing upfront. One monthly fee covers the build, hosting, maintenance, support and small changes as you go. 12-month minimum, then rolling — and you can buy it out to own it any time.

◆ Add-ons — bolt on when you need them

Care & support

Hosting, monitoring, fixes and small changes for a fixed monthly fee, from £25/month — so it keeps running and you never have to think about it.

Integrations

Make the tools you already use — accounts, CRM, bookings, payments — talk to each other, so nothing gets re-typed by hand.

Brand & identity

A logo, colours and simple guidelines to go with your site — on its own, or bundled. Toolsmith's own identity is a sample of the work.

FIG.08 Our approach

You work directly with the person building it.

Toolsmith Software builds software that changes how a business runs — the kind that gives people their hours back, takes the mistakes out, and quietly pays for itself. Serious enough to deliver work you can rely on; personal enough that your business is never just another ticket. You deal directly with the person who builds it, from the first call to the day it goes live.

The work comes out of years building practical software for regulated, detail-heavy industries: document-checking tools, data pipelines and systems that have to be right every time. The same craft, pointed at the manual jobs quietly costing small businesses hours every week.

We start by understanding your business

Your struggles, your frustrations, the jobs that should take ten minutes but never do — then a plan built around them, not a template bent to fit.

We keep it simple — no jargon

We do complex things in simple ways. No walls of coding-speak — we talk your language, explain what we're building in plain English and keep the complicated stuff on our side.

No hard sell — the work speaks for itself

You'll see a working proof of concept before you pay a penny — and if it's not worth building, we'll say so.

A partner, not a one-off supplier

Here for the tool you need now and the ones you'll need as you grow — someone who already knows your business when the next problem lands.

You'll wonder how you managed without it

Our aim isn't a finished project; it's that a couple of months on, you can't remember how the job ever got done by hand.

FIG.09 Straight answers

The questions everyone asks.

How much will my project cost?

Every project is a fixed price agreed on a free scoping call, and you can either own it outright or spread it over a monthly subscription. As a rough guide to own it: a basic website from £395, a business website from £1,200, automations and tools from £600, and custom apps quoted per project — or subscribe from around £20–£60/month with hosting and support included. No hourly meter, no surprise invoices.

Do I own what you build?

That depends which option you pick. Buy it outright and, once it's paid for in full, the code and the intellectual property are yours — host it anywhere, hand it to another developer, you're never tied in. On a subscription we own and look after it while you subscribe, and you can buy it out to own it outright whenever you like.

How long does it take?

Small automations are often a matter of days to a couple of weeks. A website is typically two to four weeks. Larger custom apps depend on scope — we'll give you a realistic timeline in the fixed quote, and show you progress as it's built rather than going quiet for months.

What happens if it breaks after launch?

Anything that isn't working as agreed is fixed free of charge for the first 30 days after delivery. Beyond that, an optional monthly support plan (from £25/month) covers hosting, monitoring, fixes and small changes — or you can call us as and when you need to.

Am I locked in to you?

Not in a way that traps you. Buy outright and you own the code and can host it anywhere. On a subscription there's a 12-month minimum, then it's rolling — but you can buy the work out and take it with you at any time. We'd like you to stay because the work is good, not because leaving is painful.

Do you only take on big projects?

Not at all. A single annoying task that eats an afternoon every week is often the perfect first job — small, well-defined, and quick to pay for itself. Plenty of good long-term relationships start there.

Where are you based, and how do we work together?

We're UK-based and work remotely by default — calls, video and email — which keeps things fast and costs down. If you're local and would rather meet in person, that's fine too.

FIG.10 Start here

Tell us the job you're sick of doing by hand.

If it's repetitive, rule-based, or someone's doing it every week — there's a good chance it can be built once and never done manually again. The first chat is free and there's no pitch.

Prefer email?

Write to us directly and describe the job. We'll reply with an honest read on whether it's worth building.
